Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Confirm Correct Spark Plug Type

Match plug type and heat range to the engine spec using fitment and OE cross references.

Pro Tip

If your engine uses iridium OE plugs, replace with equivalent quality.

2

Access Ignition Coils Safely

Disconnect battery negative terminal, remove engine cover, and unplug coil connectors carefully.

Pro Tip

Label connectors if coil positions are close together.

Warning

Work on a cool engine to avoid thread damage and burns.

3

Remove Old Plugs

Remove coils, then loosen plugs using a spark plug socket and extension.

Pro Tip

Blow out debris around the plug wells before removal.

Warning

Do not force seized plugs; use proper penetration and back-and-forth technique.

4

Gap Check and Install New Plugs

Verify plug gap if applicable, thread by hand first, then torque to manufacturer spec.

Pro Tip

Use a torque wrench to prevent under/over-tightening.

Warning

Never cross-thread aluminum heads.

5

Reassemble and Road-Test

Reinstall coils/connectors, reconnect battery, clear misfire codes if present, and road-test.

Pro Tip

Replace ignition coils or boots if misfire persists under load.

Required Tools

  • Spark plug socket set
  • 3/8 in ratchet + extension
  • Torque wrench
  • Feeler gauge (for gap checks)(optional)
  • Dielectric grease(optional)

Required Parts

CRITICAL
Spark Plugs (full set)

Install a complete matched set by OE spec.

RECOMMENDED
Ignition Coil Boots or Coils

Replace worn boots/coils if cracking or repeat misfire is present.

OPTIONAL
Anti-Seize (if manufacturer approved)

Use only when specified by plug manufacturer guidance.
